We know how important dining is to our residents. That’s why our on-site Nutrition Supervisor is committed to offering the best-quality meals that taste good and look great. Our Nutrition Supervisor is available to discuss individual dietary needs and take great pride in creating home-style favourites that meet the Canada Food Guide’s nutritional standards.
Dining at Marshall Gowland Manor provides residents with quality nutrition and hydration, while still ensuring safety, choice and independence. With a seasonal four week menu rotation, residents are offered a variety of different dishes that are planned with season and preferences in mind.
Each individual meets with the dietitian on a regular basis to determine nutritional goals, likes, and dislikes, prognosis and any need for medical nutrition therapy. There are a variety of different therapeutic and texture modified diets available to suit each person’s individual requirements which include but are not limited to modified diabetic, no added salt (NAS), ground and puree. Staff are trained to recognize when diets need to be updated to suit each person’s individual needs.
Marshall Gowland Manor recognizes that meals are a way to enhance quality of life and try to create a very homey feel in the dining room to promote this. The staff at Marshall Gowland Manor work as an interdisciplinary care team to support and care for all residents dining needs. Every meal and snack is prepared to each resident’s specific diet and nutrition goals. We understand that eating independently is a basic component of self-worth and autonomy, and incorporates a supportive and restorative dining component to maintain, support and/or regain residents self-feeding skills.
